Love Hurts

This doorstep of emotion is in the shops now. It has some fantastic original stories from Susie Day, James Dawson, Laura Dockrill as well as Malorie Blackman herself as well as extracts from writers including Patrick Ness, Gayle Forman, Bali Rai, Jenny Downham, Philip Pullman and David Levithan.

My story -The Liar’s Girl is set in 1829 and came about from reading the marvellous Old Bailey transcripts – one about an Obeah man (Voodoo priest) who was transported to London from the Caribbean for his trial and reading Dickens’ Great Expectation and thinking about prison hulks and transportation.

I’ve had some lovely reviews, from Tahlia Gillings at The Mad T Party…

5/5 I would buy this book just to have this story alone

and Daisy Chain Book Reviews…
4.5 stars
Undoubtedly the most unique short story in the entirety of Love Hurts

Also I’ll be at Waterstones Piccadilly on Feb 12th with Malorie, Patrick Ness and James Dawson to talk about Love and Stories at 6.30. Tickets are a fiver, see you there.
