\"brave-new-girl\"<\/a>Hello!<\/p>\n

Can you tell I’m getting a bit frantic? It’s cause I have a book out in oooo less than a month. That’s the cover there, won’t miss that on a dark night!. In the past I’ve always tried to be pro-active about books coming out, and although I still haven’t cracked the best selling bit of best selling author, I have at least had some fun.<\/p>\n

Two highlights include the fantastic event at Wilton’s Music Hall for STELLA, and the equally fantastic but much more intimate event at The Dennis Severs House in Spitalfields for NEST\u00a0OF\u00a0VIPERS. We got to sit on the chairs by the fire in the candlelight and drink wine. It was terribly special.<\/p>\n

OK so I’ve left it a bit late for a party and almost too late to get on down and dirty and do some marketing, I’ve no book trailer, or poster or special edition cake,but then I thought, if no one is going to interview me then I better do it myself….<\/p>\n

Me: Ah Catherine, hello!<\/p>\n

Me: Hello!<\/p>\n

Me: I hear you have a book out, would you like to tell us what it’s about?<\/p>\n

Me: Yes, I would. It’s the only book I have ever written that is actually set in the future. And as the future is getting nearer all the time, the sooner you buy it (it’s out on Nov 3rd) the more future you get. It’s set in London just before the Olympics, it’s about Seren who’s 13 and it’s about her friends, her older sister, her family, but most of all, her friends. Seren is a bit like me in that she thinks she knows everything and wants everything to be fabulous for everyone. But unlike me she actually tries to make stuff happen…<\/p>\n

Me: So have you got an older sister?<\/p>\n

Me: No, just a brother, and unlike Seren I don’t have younger brothers either. And also unlike Seren I am rubbish at acting and never had a best friend called Keith…but I did meet a best friend when I was at Art school who had spent her young teenage years re-enacting feature films. That’s why the book is dedicated to Sophie, she is a fabulous filmmaker, who, when she was 13, made Super 8 films (we didn’t even have video then) featuring all her mates on rollerskates acting out Rebel Without a Cause. Keith is as driven as she is, but Keith isn’t Sophie!<\/p>\n

Me: So why did you write this book?<\/p>\n

Me: I suppose I have Ken Livingstone to thank. When he was Mayor of London he bought in loads of little buses which zip around the backstreets of London. There’s one that goes down the end of my road. I was sitting on it, coming back from The Angel when a school girl came on the bus and started up a row with the driver, who was her Mum. That was it really.<\/p>\n

Me: So it’s about a bus?<\/p>\n

Me: No! It’s about Seren, her school mates, her family, EVERYTHING! Read it I dare you<\/p>\n
